With the development of social informatization, the modern method of surveying and mapping is continuously upgrading and renewing. Moreover, the photogrammetry has provided a new way for surveying and mapping work. The CCD super station, as a new generation of photogrammetric equipment, is based on the South NTS-372R total station and rigidly connected to the SONY DSC-QX100 CCD prime lens. Rigorous verification is needed in their integration process. Importantly, the CCD super station must be equipped with a tablet computer, preloaded with the software Mobile PlayMemories, or smartphone (preloaded with the software Mobile PlayMemories). In surveying and mapping work, by combining the precision measuring technology of total stations with CCD photogrammetry technology, the CCD super station can accurately record the relative exterior orientation elements in a moment of the photogrammetry, which will not only ensure the veracity of the measurement, but also reduce the workload of field measuring. In addition, the CCD super station has upgraded the surveying and mapping tremendously and greatly improves the efficiency and information level of surveying and mapping.The research firstly introduces the common knowledge of the basis of ground photogrammetry. The operating principle and two measuring modes of CCD Super station are also explained in this paper. Then, according to the needs of engineering measurement, different applications are designed. It is a tentative study and a bold attempt to apply CCD Super station terrestrial photogrammetry system to cadastral survey, precise engineering survey, tunnel transverse section measurement, earthwork measurement, mine subsidence monitoring, etc. The interior work is based on the the information extracted by the matched CCD Super station terrestrial photogrammetry system written in C sharp under NET Framework 4.0 and then the data will be presented after the execution of CASS drawing formation software of Southsurvey. Moreover, the measuring method for supplementary surveying and mapping is also designed in this research by using the combined solution of CCD Super station instrument and single photo. Therefore, the research can provide theoretical support for the effective use of old aerial photographs and the revision of topographical map of the urban areas.The paper has primarily and attempted studied the application of CCD Super station terrestrial photogrammetry system in engineering survey. The feasibility of the theoretical basis for design and the related plan is proved by tests. However, time limited, many issues that may arise in the application area and actual production, which need further study, are not mentioned. The research and application of CCD Super station terrestrial photogrammetry system have achieved some positive results, which provide a new idea and prospect for surveying and mapping and studies in other fields.
