Due to increasing surface water pollution, groundwater resource has become a major water supply of daily use and industrial /agricultural production in northern China. Riverside exploitation is an important way in the development and utilization of groundwater. Huangjia Riverside Groundwater Source is located in northern suburb of Shenyang, having solved water supply problems of Shenbeixinqu and Hushitai. However, long-term groundwater exploitation and construction of the Shifosi reservoir downstream changed the hydrological and hydrogeological conditions in the study area.Studying the river infiltration recharge rate and its temporal and spatial variation, simulating water source change under different climate conditions, determining exploitation potential under different climatic conditions and ensuring output of supplying water have important meaning for the groundwater resources assessment.This dissertation relies on the National Natural Science Fund Project "Study of biogeochemical behavior of iron and manganese within the riparian zone under riverside groundwater exploitation influence". Taking Huangjia Groundwater Source as an example, based on the identification of geological and hydrogeological conditions, carried out works of field site monitoring, sample test and numerical simulation et.al were conducted in the area. The conclusions are shown as following:1. Based on the investigation of hydrogeological conditions, taking river water level and groundwater level monitoring data into consideration, the river-groundwater hydraulic connection is studied by using environmental isotope tracer technique. Results show that main recharge of groundwater are river water recharge and regional groundwater lateral flow recharge. Deep groundwater(buried depth >20m) has a close link with the river water and the river infiltration ratio is about 60%; while the hydraulic connection between shallow groundwater(buried depth <20m) and Liao river is relatively weak, the water infiltration ratio is just between 20% and 40%.2 The recharge from river water to groundwater has a significant spatial and temporal variability. As for the temporal variation,recharge amount changes among different seasons, recharge amount is smaller in rainy season than that in dry season. For spatial variation: groundwater recharge amount gradually decreased trend with the distance increasing to Liao River.3 Based on the fully analysis of geological, hydrogeological conditions, detailed river and groundwater dynamics monitoring of the study area, Huangjia Water Resource Area groundwater flow model is established with GMS. Parameter sensitivity analysis shows that the permeability coefficient of the riverbed has the largest impact on the groundwater level.4 There is still a large potential for exploitation of Huangjia water source. Under realistic conditions, it is feasible to take the amount of 187,200 m3/d as the exploitation quantity, because the climate condition is similar to that of normal years.
