The Delingha fault depression is a sub structural unit of the Qaidam Basin, located in the eastern segment of the northern margin of the Qaidam Basin, North to Qilian Mountains, South to southern margin of Aimunike, West to the Oulongbuluke Mountain, East Wang Gaxiu area. The study area are about 8000km2. Delingha fault depression is divided into three sub-structural units, from north to south in order is: the Delingha depression, Oulongbuluke uplift and the South-oulongbuluke depression, showing two concave clamp a hump pattern, The topography of the area is undulating and the cross cutting relationship of the formation is complex, and there are some faults in the study area. The Bayin river is the biggest river in the study area, and get closely relationship about recharge and discharge with groundwater, twice flow into the underground transformed as subsurface flow and twice the overflow surface and form river. The Keluke Lake is the end of Bayin river. The climate of Delingha fault depression zone is The extreme arid and cold climate.For The scarce rainfall and dry climate, groundwater recharge source are mainly the melting water comes from mountain snow, evaporation is the main way of discharge of the groundwater in this area, this has also caused much more salt water than fresh water in this area. Fresh water resources are distributed only in a few piedmont area,such as Delingha,Huaitoutala ect.The scarcity of freshwater resources makes much trouble for local residents’ production and life and it also greatly constrained the development of local industry and agriculture and animal husbandry, restricts the development of local economy. Therefore, it is very urgent and important to carry out the research on the local hydrogeology.We comprehensively collected the data about local geology, meteorology, hydrology and hydrogeology.Through the field reconnaissance,we acquired the condition of local geology and geomorphology and hydrological geology.On this basis we divided the scope of the study area.Then we investigated in detail about the main formation in this area and made detailed analysis about the condation of each formation. Then we constructed the aquifer structure,established the 3D stratum model and determained the type of the groundwater in each aquifer. On the basis of the data of local hydrological geology, meteorology, hydrology and others, We generalized the lateral boundary and the vertical boundary of the study area., We Statistics the major water sources and sinks in the study area such as water consumption of industrial, agriculture, animal husbandry ect. Then we establishment the hydrogeological conceptual model of research area. Based on the conceptual model we established The numerical model of groundwater flow, and we calculated the numerical model by using the GMS software. Based on this, we analyze the seepage field of the groundwater and groundwater balance of the study area.
