Drilling mud pump usually adopts reciprocating three-throw pump, which can provide greater pressure to drive the mud circulation. If it cannot effectively restrain the flow and the pressure pulsation, it will lead to external pipeline damage, reservoir damage and increase of the managed pressure drilling difficulties. It also influences mud motor’s output property and stability, and induces ―sticky-slip‖ effect" appearing to the mud motor. This paper studies on the working mechanism and the design of the mud pulse sustained-release devices, discusses how to dynamically adjust sustained-release device’s parameters to adapt to changes in load, in order to satisfy the field experiments. It has made a certain amount of research progress.First, on the basis of researching working principle of the hydraulic system pulse damping device at home and abroad, it respectively designs two sets of mud pulse sustained-release devices, namely axial mud pulse slow-release device and pump pressure vibration damper, referring to the basic parameters of the type BW1000 three-throw mud pump. The two sets of design scheme are carried on the detailed structural design and parameter calculation and checking.Based on the analysis of the design of sustained-release structure characteristics, it respectively researches the model of the elastic rubber pieces resonance system, volume change and piping system, revealing their structure principle. Based on Solidworks 3D and ANSYS/Workbench software, it sets up CFD simulation models of the mud pulse slow-release devices, systematically analyses how the mud pulse parameters such as the vibration frequency, load, vessel volume, influences the effects of slow-release, which lays a theoretical foundation for research to slow-release devices.Thesis paper provides referential basis for the next step research of the optimization design to adaptive load mud pulse sustained-release devices. At the same time, the development of mud slow-release devices can be used for improving test conditions of the existing mud motors test bench, which lays the foundation for the subsequent turbo drill ―stick-slip‖ vibration mechanism research.
