As a typical dry land, it is particularly important to the Inner Mongolian Plateau how scientific and rational use of water resources. Only by understanding the hydrology of the area, water problems will deal with appropriate. In this study, we choose Wuliangsuhai as the study area, which located in the eastern part of Inner Mongolia Plateau Watershed. In support of remote sensing and geographic information systems, joint field trials and laboratory experiments, study of storm flood basin characteristics and extract parameter of basin topography. Based on the SWAT model, this study simulates runoff and evaluates the suitability of the study area. We can reach the following conclusions:(1) Storm flood characteristics of Basin. The study found the following results:rainstorm occurred in eastern basins have time to focus, Short duration, high-intensity; rainstorm occurs within a certain range of small probability; Flood volume and peak flow varies with differences in the spatial location of the large and interannual variability; areas remained stable over the years torrential rain, high elevation areas changed greatly over the years; rainstorm Geography the distribution presents a decreasing trend southwest to northeast and so on. And through the site of rainfall-runoff correlation analysis, the study found that natural runoff series has a better consistency.(2) Parameter extraction of Basin topography. Based on the DEM terrain feature extraction watershed, identify Wuliangsuhai eastern basin sub-basin.(3) Modeling of Wuliangsuhai eastern basin based on SWAT, a distributed hydrological model. After selecting Typical Small Watershed of Guangshenglong basin, it is divided into sub-basins, and overly the data of land use and soil, including spatial and attribute data. This basin divided into hydrological response units, after that import the collection of hydrological data Guangshenglong basin to SWAT. It is simulating demonstration at last. To achieve hydrological modeling purposes, the use of SWAT automatic calibration module parameters of the model to analyze, sort, and adjust the sensitivity analysis parameters, select a more sensitive parameter adjustment parameters, and completed construction on Wuliangsuhai eastern basin typical SWAT basin mold work.(4) Evaluating the applicability of SWAT in Wuliangsuhai eastern basin. Using linear regression correlation coefficient (R) and Nash-Suttclife coefficient (Ens) for SWAT to evaluate the applicability of the model, select the 1986 data as pre-run data, from 1989 to 1998 data as fixed model, from 1999 to 2010 data to validate the model. SWAT model rate regularly Ens=0.65, R2=0.69, and in the verification of Ens=0.63, R2=0.67. The model produces a good simulation result. It will extend the other watershed of Inner Mongolian Plateau.
