Complicated engineering system is a large proprietary systems project fully established by user needs. It has one-time, multi-science, complex systems integration and other features.With the rapid development of information technology and the proposed of Industry 4.0, more traditional industries shift to a new wave of development which is lead by smart intelligent and inseparable from the data. Digging out from the data information of great value will definitely help build a new product and service model.In the complicated engineering system, due to a large amount of system equipment, equipment contains many parameters, parameter acquisition time period shortly. At the same time, with the cumulative time, system operation will generate a lot of monitoring data, these data directly reflect the operational status of complicated engineering system, if the data is not processed and stored directly, the system will not only take up a lot of storage space, but also will bring difficulty for subsequent data processing. To ensuring data is correct and does not reduce the data information. It is necessary to carry out the massive monitoring data compression. It can effectively reduce storage space and enhance data storage efficiency.The main work of this paper is to expand the lossless data compression technology into the complicated engineering system monitoring data processing, achieve massive monitoring data lossless and efficiently compression. In order to obtain better data compression, According to the analysis of the application’s data characteristic, the data is divided into numeric data and state data. Depending on the data forms, targeted to apply different data compression algorithms to enhance the performance of data compression.Firstly, This paper introduce the basic concepts of the data compression; Secondly, we discuss the characteristics and composition for monitoring data of complicated engineering system, and analysis the characteristics, structure and scaling of the monitoring data in this paper’s application background. We point out the necessity of lossless data compression algorithm in monitoring data processing for complicated engineering system, and introduce the universal lossless data compression algorithm; According to numerical data characteristics and combined with the inherent characteristics of the underlying algorithms, we proposes an improved LZW algorithm based on the expansion of the dictionary structure, and propose a piece of information compression algorithm deal with specific structure for state data characteristics, then using sample data to verify algorithm performance; Finally, we introduce the application background of the data compression algorithm, and apply the algorithm to the complicated engineering system of monitoring data compression processing to reduce the data storage space and improve the data storage capacity.Through testing the file size before and after compression, the compression ratio, the compression time, the decompression time and so on, this paper verify the proposed data compression algorithm performance, and apply the improved and proposed data compression algorithm to the massive monitoring data compression processing.
