On the base of domestic and foreign research about response of vegetation cover variation to climate change, the RS and GIS technology was applied, reconstructing the GIMMS NDVI time-series which was interpolated with the MODIS NDVI sequence datasets based on Savitzky-Golay filter, this paper has characterized the vegetation cover variation in Jiangxi Province during 1982~2013, with the combination of meteorological data(temperature、precipitation sunshine duration and relative humidity) from twenty-five meteorological stations covering study area and its perimeter, the response of vegetation cover variation to climate change at yearly and monthly time scales. The main conclusions were as follows:(1)vegetation NDVI inter-annual variation of Jiangxi Province appeared a rising fluctuations, NDVI in summer and winter presented a gradually increasing trend as well as NDVI in spring and autumn was decreasing. The vegetation coverage of early 21st century>1990s>1980s,and the NDVI change of three eras presented a rising trend at spatial scale, which was closely associated with the climate condition of Jiangxi Province in nearly 30 years. Such research results on vegetation cover share the certain conformity at both the season scale and year scale.(2) At monthly scale, the response of vegetation variation to climatic factors suggested that sunshine duration played the most significant role, temperature came in second, with nearly one and three months time lag. On the other hand, the response of vegetation NDVI to precipitation and relative humidity was neither so obvious nor time-lag. Such research results on vegetation cover share the certain conformity at year scale.(3)The rate of positive correlation coefficient between mean annual NDVI and temperature was 59.1%, The rate of negative correlation coefficient between mean annual NDVI and precipitation was 54%, The rate of positive correlation coefficient between mean annual NDVI and sunshine duration was 60.9%, The rate of positive correlation coefficient between mean annual NDVI and relative humidity was 68.3%,(4) The rate of positive correlation coefficient between four seasonal NDVI and seasonal temperature was spring>autumn>winter>summer, The rate of negative correlation coefficient between four seasonal NDVI and seasonal precipitation was summer>autumn>spring>winter, The rate of positive correlation coefficient between four seasonal NDVI and seasonal sunshine duration was summer>autumn> winter> spring, The rate of negative correlation coefficient between four seasonal NDVI and seasonal relative humidity was summer>autumn> winter> spring.
