Optical imaging system is a tool that it sends light, receives echo andrebuilds target image. The optical imaging system will be used in atmosphereand encounter the atmospheric turbulence. The atmospheric turbulence willaffect light beam and then affect the resolution of optical imaging system. Thispaper talks about the effect of atmospheric turbulence to resolution of opticalimaging system.(1) According to the imaging system integral resolution theory under longexposure and ITU-R atmospheric refractive index structure model, we derivedthe resolution formula of optical imaging system in slant atmospheric turbulenceunder modify Von Karman turbulence spectrum model. We make the numericalanalysis of the influence of turbulence scales、turbulence contour lines、detectionheight、near-surface atmospheric structure constant and wind speed to resolutionof optical imaging system in slant atmospheric turbulence.(2) We analyze the resolution of synthetic aperture imaging laser radar(SAL)specially and deduce the resolution formula of synthetic aperture imaging laserradar under modify Von Karman turbulence spectrum model. We discuss theresolution advantage of synthetic aperture imaging laser radar. We get graphicthat highest gain value and optimal aperture changes with turbulenceouter-scales.(3)The results show that the effect of inner scale of turbulence much lessthan that of outer scale of turbulence on optical resolution; the changes of inner scale will limit the effect of outer scale of turbulence on optical resolution; inslant transmission, the effect of turbulent contour lines is larger than that ofouter scale of turbulence; atmospheric structure constant near the ground willaffect the optical resolution of optical imaging system mainly in the low height;the wind speed will be the major influence factor when the height beyond5000m. The resolution of SAL is much higher than the ordinary laser imagingradar and the SAL can bear stronger turbulence.
