Houtaomuga Site is located at Da’an City, Jilin Province. During the years2011-2012, several ancient human ruins have been found in the continued excavation,in which a great deal of mammal remains was discovered and systematically collected.According to stratigraphy and artifact characteristics, seven different phases havebeen identified from the early Neolithic Age to the Iron Age. This article takes themammal remains from the Bronze Age to the Iron Age in2011-2012excavation as theresearch object. Here the author will report the result of the species identification andmorphological analysis. Then some problems such as the buried customs, the functionof immolation and the hierarchy of tombs will be discussed based on the identificationof mammal remains from the Warring states period to the Western Han Dynasty. Thefinal part will talk about the exploitation of animal resources and the relationshipbetween men and animals in the Liao and Jin Periods.
