Metal nanoparticles with the general quantum size effect, surface effect, quantumtunnel effect and the unique surface plasmon resonance effect have been widely used inoptoelectronics, catalysis, Biology, etc. The metal ion implantation method is animportant approach to form metal nanoparticles in the dielectric substance and thenonlinear optical properties of the substance can be significantly improved because ofthe formation of the metal nanoparticles. In this paper, several metal nanocompositematerials have been fabricated by the MEVVA (Metal Vapor Vacuum Arc) ionimplantation method. The main content and achievements of this paper are summarizedas follows:1. Synthesized the Cu: Al2O3, Ag: Al2O3, Fe: Al2O3and Ni: Al2O3nanocompositesby injecting the Cu, Ag, Fe and Ni into single crystal alumina with the MEVVAtechnique, respectively.2. Measured the UV-Vis and supercontinuum spectra of the samples mentionedabove and found that the optical absorption and nonlinear optical refractive index of thesingle alumina can be improved by the Cu,Ag, Fe or Ni ion implantation3. By using the Kerr-lens autocorrelation method, we measured the nonlinearoptical refractive index of the Cu: Al2O3, Ag: Al2O3, Fe: Al2O3and Ni: Al2O3nanocomposites and compare the enhancement of each element.
