In order to facilitate the analysis and research of diagnosis treatment and diseasemechanism, using animals instead of human as experimental subjects, animalventilator appeared on market. Small animal ventilator is mainly used for artificialrespiration, respiratory management, animal first aid and respiratory treatment ofscientific research experiments. In recent years, the demand for small animalventilator is growing, which makes the technology development imminent. Therefore,the research focused on small animal ventilator is very urgent with the reality andnecessity.This thesis designed the ventilation control system for experimental small animalventilator which combined with high frequency ventilation and mechanical ventilation.The experimental small animal ventilator is composed of oxygen source, air supplydevice, driving device, control circuits, the oxygen mixer and the like. This designtook PIC18F4550as the core control chip for development to ensure the system withhigh performance and multiple resources. In the circuit, the control module and motormodule and display module, sound and light alarm module were optimized andimproved to enhance the flexibility and reliability of the system. This paper wrote afeasible software control program, with hardware circuit to ensure the automation andintelligent of the ventilation control system for experimental small animal ventilator.At the same time, the mechanical structure including transmission device, gasline and ventilation control parameters of the ventilation control system was modifiedto improve the stability and accuracy of control parameters for small animal ventilator.Through the dynamics simulation software which is called ADAMS, the mechanicaldevice of ventilation control system was simulated to verify the feasibility of thisdesign of the ventilation system. The design of ventilation control system forexperimental small animal ventilator provides a good reference and actual application value for research and development of animal ventilator.
