The subfamilies Evergestinae and Odontiinae belong to the family Crambidae of the superfamily Pyraloidea, which are important economic pests. There are more monotypic genera of ill-defined boundary due to lack of a systematic study. Therefore, a taxonomic classification of the two subfamilies is particularly significant. This dissertation consists of a general part and a taxonomic part, dealing with the taxonomic study of Evergestinae and Odontiinae in China. In the general part, the taxonomic status and the research history of the two subfamilies at home and abroad are overviewed, the detailed morphological and biological characters of the two subfamilies are provided,. In the taxonomic part,19species and two subspecies in three genera are reported in Evergestinae, including four new species (Evergestis albifasciaria sp. nov., E. trigonoprojecta sp. nov., E. sp. and Prorasea arcilinearis sp. nov.), one newly recorded genus (Prorasea Grote,1878), and two newly recorded species (Evergestis lichenalis Hampson,1900and E. pallidata Hufnagel,1767) for China;13species and one subspecies in8genera are recorded in Odontiinae, including four new species (Clupeosoma digitaliformis sp. nov., Hydrorybina arcuata sp. nov., Hydrorybina triangularis sp. nov. and Platynoorda paratrivittalis sp. nov.), two newly recorded genera (Cynaeda Hubner,1825and Platynoorda Munroe,1977), and one newly recorded subspecies (Cynaeda gigantea hilariella Schawerda,1921).Keys to genera and to species of each genus, if necessary, are given. General characters of each subfamily and genus are provided. Each available species is described with detailed citations, and the available hosts, biology and the geographic distributions are included. Two adult plates, four male and three female genitalia plates are provided. All the specimens are deposited in the Insect Collection, College of Life Science, Nankai University, Tianjin, China.
