Electromagnetic pulse is a transient changing wave, resulting from themutual coupling effects by instantaneous alternating electric field and magneticfield. As a modern electromagnetic frontier, the study of electromagnetic pulse isbased on the numerical analysis and theoretical research. Generally numericalanalysis adopts the fitting of the matrix pencil algorithm and the fractionalFourier transform technique for parameter extraction and waveformreconstruction. However both the methods are so complex, the biggest drawbackis that identified parameters do not reflect the actuality of the transient response.Therefore, in order to improve the stability and the accuracy of parameteridentification, to make sure the study of theory and practice on electromagneticpulse simulator effective, it is necessary to design the new ways for parameteridentification of transient response waveform parameter identification. As a newresearch field for system identification, subspace identification is more suitablefor the identification of complex system than the traditional identificationmethods through the data of actual measurement. The characteristics of thereaction system can be truly reflected. This paper, aiming at the transientcharacteristics of the electromagnetic pulse, combining the subspaceidentification method theory, makes research on the effective identification ofelectromagnetic pulse’s character parameters.This paper is mainly based on the subspace identification method. In orderto extract feature parameters of pulse wave, firstly, the theory of state subspaceidentification is studied, this paper divides the whole space into the past part andthe future part, based on the matrix theory. Through geometric projection tools,we can get the state sequence and the general solution of the observable matrix,and achieve system matrix decomposition. Subspace identification method is independent of any prior condition, only relies on the input and output data toidentify system model. In the end, by the example, this paper verifieseffectiveness and high precision of the identification method.Electromagnetic pulse simulator is sample platform. This paper studies theworking principle and geometric structure of the EMP simulator. Building theplatform through the actual demand, through adjusting the pulse source chargingvoltage, the electrode gap of field distortion switch, many groups of experimentalwaveforms will be got. This paper structures the Hankel data matrix, determinesthe system order, and gets system matrix and the main characteristic value. Thecomparison of the real output waveform and the simulated waveform data makesclear that this method can identify the parameters of the transient electromagneticwave, it can provide theoretical basis for the future design of electromagneticpulse simulator.
