Artificial upwelling technology has great significance to improve the marineenvironment, the proliferation of fishery resources and improve river’s ecologicalenvironment. But the existing techniques of artificial upwelling has some defects, wepropose a new artificial upwelling technology: thermal-left artificial upwellingtechnology. The technology is heating deep cold water by artificial means, accordingto principles of fluid mechanics, the fluid with high temperature has low density, thefluid with low temperature has high density. Therefore, the seawater with lowtemperature would rise naturally by buoyant,then become an upwelling. We have thereserach on this technology’s velocity and temperature characteristics by experimentand numerical simulation.Firstly, We have established a experimental program and system based on thecharacteristics of differential thermal artificial upwelling. In addition, we performed arelevant pre-treatment.Secondly, We analyzed three factors: the initial temperature, distance from heatsource and heat power’s effect on upwelling velocity and temperature characteristics.After the comparative analysis of the experimental results, we proposed themechanism of differential thermal artificial upwelling.Finally, we simulate the flow of differential thermal artificial upwelling, thenumerical simulation and experimental results is similar under the samecircumstances. We verify the correctness of the numerical simulation model, then westudy the effects of different water salinity on the artificial upwelling velocity andtemperature characteristics.
