In recent years, with the rapid development of Korla City, water consumption increases year by year,in July2008it has reached20.0414m3/d, and the city water supply expand to the Yuli County and Korlasurrounding townships, water consumption has met the first-stage project designed target. In order toensure the city development and residents living water, city water supply second-stage expansion projectconstruction has been imminent.In this paper, set wulasitai groundwater system as the research object, collecting with the pastachievements, historical monitoring data, field investigation, the results of the investigation and the dataprovided by water conservancy department, with the use of GIS, PMWIN and other analysis tools, studiedthe groundwater recharge and discharge system, obtained the following results:(1)Established the wulasitai groundwater numerical model with the international general groundwatermodeling software Modflow, use the area surface water and groundwater exploitation data andhydrogeological investigation data to calibrate the model parameters and input items.(2) In Simulation area, the total current year groundwater recharge simulation is41271×104m3/a,lateral groundwater recharge is18018×104m3/a, canal seepage and irrigation infiltration recharge is22559×104m3/a, the river recharge694x104m3/a. The total groundwater discharge quantity is41825×104m3/a,the phreatic evaporation is15139×104m3/a; drainage quantity is13168×104m3/a; groundwater to riverdischarge quantity is2540×104m3/a; lateral groundwater discharge quantity is4078×104m3/a; theexploitation of groundwater is5600×104m3/a. Balanced differential is-553×104m3/a, the charge anddischarge is basically balanced.(3) From the north shore equalization zone, exploitable quantity meets the designed. With thenumerical simulation of Korla city stage two water source, wulasitai groundwater source is3788×104m3/a,which does not meet neither the design production, nor the production requirements of5600x104m3/a.Hongqi pasture groundwater source has an exploitable volume of1239×104m3/a, wulasitai source andHongqi pasture source total exploitable volume is5027×104m3/a, therefore, in replacing agricultural water,it is commended to stop the wulasitai and Hongqi pasture exploitation, Korla city stage two waterexploitation of5600×104m3/a is basically feasible.
