The hazard of lightning is a serious natural disaster. With the rapid development of science technology, people pay more attention to the harm of ground flash, which discharge between the thunder cloud and the ground. In order to reduce the harm to human society caused by Ground flash and have more in-depth research, it has a important practical significance to develop a system, which can monitor and locate ground flash effectively. The present situation of the research level on the technology of lightning detection and equipment is still very weak in China. There has a further study about the signal acquisition of ground flash in this thesis, and then we design a signal acquisition board of the ground flash, which is part of the lightning location system.Firstly, the background and purpose of thesis, the basic physical processes of lighting, the basic knowledge of electromagnetic and the correlative theory of lightning location have been introduced at the start of the paper. There has a research about the proposal of signal acquisition. According to the physical characteristics of the ground flash, and then the scheme of signal acquisition is proposed in this dissertation, the hardware of the system mainly includes signal conditioning circuit, analog-to-digital conversion circuit, logic control chip FPGA and periphery configuration circuit, the system clock circuit,the GPS receiver circuit and the power supply circuit of system and so on. The periphery connection mode of the device has also been analyzed and the rules of the pin connection are expounded in this design. The main points of the design about the circuit principle diagram and PCB are pointed out. The logic of the system is designed in verilog HDL on the QuartusII platform, which mainly includes the control of AD sampling, the high accurate timing scale of GPS, the digital AGC and the management and control of the system clock. After the simulation, the logic design of system is implemented.The test of the signal acquisition board of the ground flash has proved that the design meets the requirements. Finally, the research of this thesis is summarized and the outlook of the further is proposed.
