The change of climate has a great influence on the biosphere, human beings included. With the dramatic increasing of CO2 produced by human beings’ activities, more and more people pay their attention to the greenhouse effect and global warming. It is of great importance for us to deeply understand the pattern and mechanism of climate change, which is critical for predicting and responding to the future climate change.Jurassic is a typical greenhouse period during the Earth history, that’s why the reconstruction of Jurassic paleoclimate can help us better understand the climate change in the condition of greenhouse. In addition, compared to marine, the terrestrial environment is more sensitive to climate change, resulting in more complicated climate types, and related to our life more closely, which make it important to study paleoclimate based on terrestrial record. But because of the old age and incomplete sediment record, it is very difficult to study Jurassic paleoclimate. However, a great amount of plant fossils are reserved in the Jurassic beds in North China, where was located in mid-latitude during Jurassic. Jurassic plant productivity and maximum diversity were concentrated at mid-latitudes, which provided us a great opportunity to study the Jurassic paleoclimate. Previous work has been done on plant fossils and floras, and their implication of paleoclimate has been discussed. But resulting from scattered materials and short in comparison, the research on paleoclimate reconstruction and paleoclimate zones dividing are limited. In this work, we systemically arranged and compared the records of Jurassic plant fossils and floras in North China, which can provide detailed materials for further study. Moreover, we improved the paleoclimate dividing made in previous work. Finally, we innovatively applied the deep time-paleoclimate classification to Jurassic paleoclimate study, which made it possible to test the classification and to compare paleoclimate types to the modern ones.
