In order to satisfy the requirements of domestic oil fields to dipmeters, this paper carries out the research of the six arm dipmeter which can precisely detect the current flowing through the layer. Combine with diameter signal, diameter signal and other auxiliary signals, this six arm dipmeter can draw six resistivity curves that abundantly have the information of formation resistivity, and then display the formation dip angle and dip azimuth by vector diagram that help geologists to recognize the sedimentary structure and feature, thus the production of the oil fields is guaranteed and it’s better for sustainable development.On the basis of dip logging theory, this dissertation analyses the basic theory of the dip angle measurement while the basic inspection models of the dip angle detection are constructed based on the theoretical analysis. Then this dissertation calculate and analyses the formation dip angle, dip azimuth, hole deviation correction and depth difference. Under the theoretical foundation, this paper develop the hardware circuit of six arm dipmeter including pad in-built low noise amplify circuit, signal source circuit and data acquisition circuit. The data acquisition circuit use APA300 and TMS320F2812 to achieve digitalization phase sensitive demodulation in order to realize acquiring weak signal effectively. On the base of theoretical research and hardware circuit developments, this dissertation create the pad detection system for detecting pad in-built circuit and design the method of the diameter calibration for diameter calibration.In order to test the correctness and effectiveness of the dipmeter, high temperature and high pressure test, chamber simulation test and diameter calibration test have been made. The debugging and experiment result prove that the whole system is good in stability, high in sensitivity and disturbance in noise environment, which can be used in a wide range. This dipmeter has been used many times in Qing Hai oil field and its test result is close to foreign same type instruments.
