Firstly, this paper focousing on a cylinder to investigate the principle feasibilityof suppressing waves by moving wall resistance reduction.By comparing thecalculation result and the flow field’s characteristic in different flow velocity anddifferent rotational speed of the cylinder, the following conclusions and regulationsare obtained:1)To a certain flow velocity, the bigger the rotational speed of the cylinder(theratio of rotational speed of the cylinder to the flow velocity),the smaller theresistance of the cylinder;2)To a certain rotational speed of the cylinder(the ratio of rotational speed ofthe cylinder to the flow velocity), the bigger the flow velocity, the bigger theresistance of the cylinder, but the percentage of resistance reduction to static isconstant. After verifying the principle feasibility of suppressing waves by moving wallresistance reduction, we will investigate the feasibility of suppressing waves bymoving wall resistance reduction on vessel. Focousing on a ordinary ship, in the caseof a constant displacement, we deal with the bulbous bow so that the pulley devicecan be installed on the ship model. Take numerical simulation of the ship modelswith bulbous bow, stationary pulley device and rotational pulley device. Comparedwith the calculation result and the flow field’s characteristic of this three cases indesign speed, the following conclusions and regulations are obtained:1)Total resistance of the ship model with stationary pulley device is the biggest, total resistance of the ship model with rotational pulley device is the least.2)When the pulley device with the rotational speed of v转v=0.4, the totalresistance of ship model with rotational pulley device is reduced by7.58%to shipmodel with stationary pulley device, and reduced by4.84%to ship model withbulbous bow.
