Rapid socio-economic development, led to over-exploitation of resources andhigh energy consumption, making an increase in emissions of harmful substances, damage to the environment, leading to a serious imbalance in the ecosystem. Thus, tosolve the environmental problems at home and abroad, all aspects of the researchwork has been done. Meanwhile, with the development of GIS, it become possible forpeople to macro analyze and resolve the environmental problems. GIS can be used toestablish environmental modeling and environmental information systems, to forecastand analyze environmental changes and trends, to provide decision-making basis forthe environmental protection through statistical analysis and simulation study. This system is mainly constructed by two stages, environmental datainterpolation stage and two-dimensional visualization of environmental data stage. Inthe interpolation stage of environmental data, through the analysis of three spatialinterpolation methods, it selects a best interpolation method and optimizes it. Then ituses the optimized method to interpolate the corresponding attribute environmentaldata and puts interpolated data into the database. in the two-dimensionalenvironmental data visualization stage, the system gets the interpolated attribute datafrom a DB2database and implement the visualization. The system is based on VS2010, DB2, and ArcGIS Server. Environmentalattribute data are stored in a DB2database. Environmental data interpolation stage isimplemented through MFC. Because the interpolation algorithm is relatively complex,so interpolation stage is completed by C++which is efficient and flexible. It getsenvironmental data from a DB2database and puts the interpolated data into a DB2database after interpolation. MFC connects to the database via ODBC. In theenvironmental data visualization stage, visualization is implements throughSilverlight. Environmental data layers are show through feature layers. The map dataand environmental attribute data are getting from an ArcGIS Server and a DB2server.It may need some simple calculation with the interpolated data before visualization. The system implemented three ways of visualization: temperature value, temperaturedifference and isothermal lines.
