Photonic crystal is a kind of functional band gap material with periodical units and arrays. Due to its unique electromagnetic properties, such as photonic band gap and photonic localization, photonic crystal has become one of key research area across the world. Even with its several dramatic advantages, the general photonic crystal still suffer from the photonic instability, which is caused by factors such as incidence angle of electromagnetic wave and difference of low-high dielectric film, etc. Therefore, photonic crystal can not be well controlled under practical application scenarios. The negative refractive index material is a new material with negative permit-tivity and negative permeability. The unusual characteristics of photonic crystals resulted from the mixture with negative refractive index materials have drawn a great attention of the research community across the world. In this thesis, we make theoretical research and numerical simulation on the behavior of the light propagation in one dimensional photonic crystal containing double negative refractive index materials. The main contributions are summarized as the following:Leveraging the research result from the general1-D photonic crystal and em-ploying the transfer matrix as methodology, we have derived the suitable transfer matrix, the transmittance formulas and the dispersion relations for1-D photonic crystal with double defects of negative-refractive-index. Then based on the theoret-ical results and some selective situations with different pramaters, we have simulated and compared the transmission under different doping defect mode, and found the right mixture method in a higher quality defect mode. Under this doping way and the same selected parameter conditions, we have simulated the relations between the defect mode and the parameters of our research. We have also compared the optic properties of the defect modes, which are obtained under double left-hand re-fractive defects and double right-hand refractive defects. Finally, we have analyzed the advantages of1-D photonic crystal containing double negative refractive index material defects over1-D photonic crystal containing two conventional refractive index material defects.
