This paper studies the remote sensing image fusion technology used in monitoring urban area extended, the fused image quality depends on the results of monitoring, the paper compares a variety of image fusion methods, select the fit fusion method for Shenyang geographical expansion dynamic monitoring. Papers on the following major elements:(1) used HIS color transform fusion method, PCA principal component transform fusion method and wavelet transform fusion method to test the fusion results of subjective and objective evaluation,and the traditional image fusion result can’t meet the dynamic monitoring accuracy;(2) Improve the traditional image fusion method, such as HIS and wavelet transform combined fusion method, PCA and wavelet transform fusion method and wavelet packet transform fusion method, subjective and objective evaluation of the fusion, the fusion results which improved in spatial resolution and increase in spectral information are better than the traditional image fusion methods, wavelet packet transform fusion is the best results;(3) Using wavelet packet fusion method fused the image of SOPT in2010and image of QuickBird in2012, The results show that the fusion results applied to monitoring the urban area extended is feasible.
