Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region is located in the east of Inner Mongolia Plateau and north edge of North China Platform. Since Late Cenozoic, the volcanic activities were frequent in this region, leaving a large number of volcanic apparatus landforms, vast lava landforms, crater lakes and barrier lakes here, which were very typical in East China. This thesis has studied the distribution, characteristics, time and type of eruption, landform and rock types of the volcanoes. It is also comparing the distribution and activity time of the volcanoes in the whole areas, providing valuable suggestions for the development and protection of the volcanic geoheritages in this region. The lava landform is well-developed in this region. In Mesozoic and Cenozoic period, there was a large scale basalt flow erupting along fissures, forming lava plateau with flatten top and scarp and volcano cone. They are mainly distributed in the east and west of Greater Khingan Mountains, Abag Qi and other eight places. There are four volcanic groups in this region, that is, Nuomin volcanoes, Halhin volcanoes, Dalai Nur volcanoes and Ulan Had volcanoes. This thesis has studied the single characteristics of the four volcanic groups and compared the time and type of eruption, types of rocks and landforms between them. The results showed that times of eruption was continuously, types of volcanoes were typical and diverse and volcanic landforms were well-preserved. They are the most appropriate place for the research of Northeast volcanoes in China, which are of great scientific value.Volcanic geoheritages in Inner Mongolia is an important part of Quaternary basalt of eastern China. It is of great scientific significance to the study of the distribution, geological characteristics, activities, structure environment and formation mechanism of volcanoes in Eastern China since Late Cenozoic.
