Research On Development Of Automotive Industry And Industrial Policies In China After Entry Into WTO

Automobile industry is a highly correlated industry which has a strong influence on the whole national economy. The Chinese government has always been attaching its importance on its automobile industry. It has been developed as the supporting industry as well as the main industry to promote the individual consumption, stimulate the market and expand the domestic demand. After over fifty years'development, the Chinese automobile industry has formed a certain scale with a relatively complete range of products and productive layout. The automobile industry has played a more and more important role in the national economy and has become the major industry in Chinese economic growth. However, we should clearly realize that there are still a lot of deficiencies in our automobile industry. Our protection to the immature industries has caused the disconnection between the Chinese automobile industry and the world automobile industry. Compared with the world automobile industry, there is still a big gap between them. Especially after China's entry into WTO, the Chinese automobile enterprises are facing a more severe task. China's becoming a big automobile country is within sight, but a big automobile country is not equal to an automobile power. We should know our shortcomings. After our entry into WTO, our domestic market has been further opened to the world. After the temporary and limited protection to the immature industries, the Chinese automobile industry will have to directly face the great challenges of many transnational enterprises. Our main task now is to rapidly develop our automobile industry, improve its international competitiveness and quickly make our automobile industry become one of the automobile powers. Therefore, in the current situation and through the relevant study on the policy of the Chinese automobile industry, this paper has put forward that China should adjust its corresponding industrial policy under the guidance of improving China's autonomous developing capability in automobile.
