Facing the new changes in the automobile market the competition emphasis in the automobile industry has changed much. In the past the emphasis is the safety and comfort of automobile, while it has changed into focusing on the appearance and the diversified interior ornament of the automobile and meeting the consumer's particular demand for the automobile. Such changes make the automobile manufacturing enterprises attach importance to the rationality of production planning and control, the effective control of cost, the full utilization of resources, the balance arrangements of operations, the reasonable management of inventory and the timely analysis of financial situations etc. Of them production planning and control is very important to the enterprise management, which directly have great influence on the effective output of the enterprises' inputs. Therefore, in the condition that the production mode of make-to-order, multi-variety and small batch has become an inevitable trend while the enterprises' resources are limited, how to make effective use of the limited resources and develop a reasonable production planning have important significations for any enterprise.Firstly the writer introduces the production planning and control systems of Shanghai GM and FAW-Volkswagen of the enterprises in Europe and the United States, which depend on the support of strong information technology and enterprise resource planning (ERP). Secondly the writer introduces the production planning and control systems of Tianjin FAW Toyota Motor of the enterprises in Japanese, which is mainly about making production planning through Kanban and controlling production scene. Subsequently, through comparing the production planning and control systems' commonness, personality and shortage, the writer makes conclusion that automobile manufacture enterprises make production planning and control through enterprise resource planning (ERP). Its strengths lie in good long-term planning capacity, perfect advance programming, planning and arranging personnel, materials and production process as carefully as possible to deal with uncertainty in the production. And it has weakness too: parameters of lead time and batch are statically decided in advance, capacity restrictions are ill-considered, production planning and control are separated, basic management in production scene is weak. In contrast, the production planning and control with Kanban can keep a low demand of work in process and meet all the needs, such as a)The working procedure only make products needed in the next working procedure to avoid unnecessary production; b)Produces are only made when required to prevent and reduce non-urgent stock; c)Unlike ERP system making plans in every working procedure, JIT system make plan conversely from a certain point...
