With the advance of globalization and the rapid development of oureconomy, especially with the emergence and development of the internationalenterprises, the study on cross-cultural management has attracted moreacademic attentions. A lot of profound and in-depth theories have beenestablished on it. Cross-cultural management is a special term which isapplied in the Multinational Corporations (MNCs), where people fromdifferent cultures may work together. In this case they may have differentvalues, beliefs, and may behave very differently. When they get together towork in the same cultural setting, they may respond very differently, whichmay become a great challenge to the mangers of the organization. Therefore,human resources managers should firstly enhance the awareness of culturaldifference and its impact on management, then work out proper ways toreduce the negative effects exerted by the cultural conflicts to achieve theeffectiveness in management.This paper firstly introduces some culture-related knowledge and somebasic concepts, which includes various definitions about culture andcharacteristic of culture, different dimensions of culture;then it provides ageneral review on the relationship between culture and management, whichincludes the relationship, the impact of cultural difference on managementand analyzes the causes of culture conflicts;the fourth chapter analyzes thecurrent development of multinational corporations in China, problems andtendency of the cross-cultural management of MNCs;the fifth chapter drawsa natural conclusion and proposes some feasible suggestions on cross-culturalmanagement.
