Regional economic integration has become the inevitable trend of worldeconomic development, which causes more and more profound influence on the worldeconomy. Although East Asia has achieved brilliant success after many years'development, the process of regional economic integration in East Asia is obviouslylagging behind the European Union and NAFTA, which makes the East Asiancountries being at a disadvantage in the international economic competition based onregional economic integration organization, and it seriously affected the economicdevelopment of East Asia. The process of East Asian economic integration is veryimperative. This thesis, with the theory of international economic integration,analyses the issues in the process of East Asia economic integration.This thesis is divided into four parts :The first part analyses the necessity and feasibility of East Asian economicintegration. The concept of East Asia is defined. Then I think that the East Asiaeconomic integration is necessary and feasible in current environment.The second part analyses which type of economic integration is suitable to EastAsian and the effect it will cause. Through the comparison of Free Trade Area andCustoms Union, I think that Free Trade Area is most suitable to East Asia, and then Ianalyze its static and dynamic effects.The third part analyses the model which East Asian economic integration shouldchoose. There are several models in the process of East Asian economic integrationand they all have advantage and disadvantage. The East Asian economic integrationshould choose China--ASEAN Free Trade Area as the breakthrough point.The last part points the resistance in the process of East Asian economicintegration, and makes a few suggestions to promote the process.
