Since its opening up to foreign investors in 1979, China has obtained hugesuccess in making use of FDI. So far more than 450 companies out of the top 500transnational companies in the world have invested in China. Meanwhile, due to theimpact of the worldwide changes of the investment environment and theadjustments of transnational companies' strategies, the entry mode of thesecompanies in China has been changing. In the 21st centuries, with the economicglobalization and integration, the mode of transnational companies in China hasbeen newly disguised and that would surely arouse the corresponding measures thatChinese government will take. Based on FDI theories, this paper summarizes the trend of FDI mode oftransnational companies in China and analyses the causes. It concludes that the FDImode of transnational companies tends to be "solely foreign-enterprise owned" inthe new decade. The paper further explores the possible countermeasures for thenew characteristics in hope of minimizing the negative impact of "solely owned"mode, and pushing the foreign companies to contribute more in the development ofChina's economy.
