Textile & apparel industry is traditional industry;specialized textile market also has a long history. These statistics show that there were 252 specialized textile markets in 2004, covered 23 provinces, cities, and municipalities. These markets all have a sales over 10 billion RMB.Chinese textile & apparel industry is on the turning point of shifting from "Diversification/ Integration" to "Volume-Value Added Shift". Textile & apparel industry and its' products need to be more diverse. So cost advantage has no more the leading competitive advantage, brand strategies become more and more important. When textile & apparel industry enter into the phase of "Volume-Value Added Shift", it calls for specialized textile markets to upgrade. This paper establishes a development model, in order to solve the problems about upgrade of specialized textile market to enhance competitiveness of textile & apparel industry.First of all, this paper does some research on correlativetheories, such as theory of division of labor, theory of transaction cost, theory of innovation and so on, then combined with some research of advanced specialized market overseas, establishes the development model of textile & apparel industries. According to extent (localization—* territory —?internationalization) and deepness (department specialization —^product specialization—* technics/accessory specialization—? service specialization) of development of specialized markets, this paper marks the development stage as follows: native bazaar—? territorial wholesale market—> specialized trade center—> international market center/fashion center). This is also the contribution of this study.Secondly, this paper analyzes 5 representative specialized textile markets as cases through field investigations and second-hand information. For example, Dieshiqiao International Hometextile Market, Xiqiao Textile Market, Fastener Market, Xiliu Apparel Market and Yanbu International Underwear Market. It shows that specialized textile markets in China exist these problems such as most of the specialized textile markets are belong to lower stages, the goods in these markets are short of innovation, most of these markets are mainly for domestic markets, the functions of these markets arevery poor and etc.Conclusions: (1) Most of the specialized textile markets are on the metaphase or anaphase of territorial wholesale market. In some regions, where textile & apparel industry had grown up, specialized textile markets have on the stage of specialized trade center. (2) Specialized textile markets of semifinished products are inclined to centralize in textile & apparel clusters and will become international market center, either entitative or networking. (3) Specialized textile markets of finished products, such as costume, hometextile and etc., are inclined to centralize in big cities (e.g. Shanghai, Guangzhou) and will become international fashion center, to join the international textile & apparel industry chain totally.Author: WMM(^$MM) Supervised by:... |
