| This thesis presents our studies on the integration of quality tools for discretemanufacturing. Different kinds of Continuous Quality Improvement(CQI) tools donot stand alone. The integration of these tools can not only help to reduce theredundancy and inconsistency of the analysis information from different CQI toolsbut also bring out the best of these tools and evidently improve the efficiency ofquality management work. The thesis focuses on the research work in both designand manufacture phase and the software development based on our research. The concept of CQI is widely accepted today. Quality tools, such as qualityfunction deployment (QFD), failure mode and effective analysis (FMEA), statisticalprocess control (SPC) and design of experiment (DOE), etc. after long terms ofresearch and practice, have been fully developed and widely used. However, we findthere is much information exchange and function compensation between them. Thepaper reviews the research achievements in this field and then focuses on theresearch work in the design and manufacture phase of products. In design phase, integrated application of QFD, FMEA and DOE will optimize product designing andin the manufacture phase, based on the SPC/DOE, we can keep continuousimprovement and control of the production. Hereby we give out an integration modelbased on process management. On this flat, different quality optimize, analysis andcontrol tools are integrated to formed an integrated quality management system. Wealso analysis the relationship between the integrated quality management system andthe CAD/CAPP/CAM system.Without computer technology hardly any quality improvement can be carried outtoday. As to simple quality improve work, there has been some very good software, such as Minitab, JMP and QFD2000, but software that supports integrated use ofthese tools is not seen yet. Because of this we developed the Integrated QualityManagement System called IQMS. The last two parts of this paper give the details ofthe function, improvement plan and one application case of the software. |
