Research On The Relation Of Xi'an Industrial Development And Urban Space Structure

As the old industrial base in China and the center city of northwest, Xi'an is a typical outcome of the plan economy system and has the problems that also exist widely in other old industrial base cities in the Northwest. The study that is focused on Xi'an can provide the reference scheme to settle the problems in terms of urban industrial economy in the whole Northwest.Since China was founded, Xi'an industries had taken place turnover greatly. Xi'an industries had undergone transition from a little to a lot. From 1950s to 1970s, Xi'an had been gradually evolving as a main industrial city of the Northwest. After the economic reforms, the decline of state-owned and traditional industries, the growth of high-tech industry and tertiary sector are gradually changing the industrial structure that inevitably reshapes urban space and changes urban society in Xi'an.Xi'an industrial space-time array is taken as the main thread in the essay, it is explained how the altering process of industrial structure in Xi'an since 1949 by combining static and qualitative analysis with dynamic and quantitative analysis respectively. On the basis of industry structural evolution, the dissertation makes multi-analysis of industrial distribution, urban space and land-use, change of traffic mode, and interactive relationship among them. Furthermore the factors that influence land use transformation in microscopic view are discussed by positive research of new and old industrial districts. Xi'an present land-use map is taken as basic data, and then functional information map of Xi'an land-use during different period is drawn by using grid model. Though calculating degree of homogeneity in Xi'an, educes the evolving characters of Xi'an urban space structure for finding the problems that space structure has at present. In the end, specific suggestions for constructing the future Xi'an urban space structure are proposed. The paper draws the main conclusions as following.(1) As Xi'an industries regulated in twenty years continually, industrial structure is more and more advanced.(2) Industrial activity was leading factor of city development, which determined urban land diffusivity and structural form before 1990s. However, after 1990s, the total scale of urban economy is on the increase along with economy regime transforming, urban industry structure commence multiple evolvement, the real estate is gradually rising, which play a basic and leading role in urban space structural evolvement with industry.(3) Degree of homogeneity in Xi'an is always on the low side, and land-use is disorder because of historical problems.(4) As urban congregation effect is strengthening, it brings pressure to CBD and traffic. There is no other than considering industrial distribution and urban space structure within metropolitan area, we could solve increasing serious the problems of Xi'an urban.
