A Study On Folksonomy-based Library Information Organization

The advancement of information technology and the Internet is gradually eliminating the obstacles to enter the network.More and more Internet users not only become viewers to skim through network contents, but also became the creators. As the Web2.0 era coming, it is possible for ordinary users to participate and organize the Internet information on a participatory framework way. Folksonomy shows sharing and collaboration spirit, is advocated by the Internet and a unique tool of information organization in the new Internet information environment. It points out a new direction for improving the Internet information organization and retrieval. At present the main representative abroad is the websites of delicious and Flickr. The main domestic representative is the websites of 365key, douban and doulor. The emergence of Folksonomy is not only in favor of the organization and development of knowledge, enriches the classification system in theory, but also promotes the development of library information organization in practice, and can also contribute to the development process of library industry. The developing of Folksonomy will have a profound effect on the application mode of communication between libraries and users.This paper uses citation analysis, comparison, and survey research methods. It focuses on analyzing and researching Folksonomy-based library information organization. Basing on the investigation of a large number of summing up the theory and practice application related to Folksonomy from home and abroad, this paper mainly observes features, functions and operational mechanism of Folksonomy from the perspective of information organization. It points out the advantages and disadvantages of Folksonomy-based library information organization by comparing Folksonomy with different information organization and their application of information organization in libraries, while it suggests how to solve the problems and the prospect of Folksonomy-based library information organization application. Then the library Folksonomy construction and organization is expounded. In the end, this paper summarizes the major and further study. In the future research, making some standard control and feedback on Folksonomy and applying automatic processing and artificial intelligence, it will be not difficult to be predicted that Folksonomy will play a more important role than traditional methods in the huge information resources space constituted by libraries.
