Image Inpainting Using Bandelets And PDE

Inpainting, a set of techniques for making undectectable modifications to images, is as ancient as art itself. Applications of image inpainting range from the removal of an object from a scene to the retouching of a damaged painting or photograph. For photography and film, inpainting can be used to reverse deterioration (e.g. cracks in photograph, scratches and dust spots in film), or to add or removal elements (e.g. stamped dates,"red-eye", and, infamously, political enemies) from photographs. In each case, the goal is to produce a modified image in which the restoration region is merged into the image so seamlessly that a typical viewer is not aware that any modification has occurred. Traditionally, retouching has been done by professional artists. While information technology and automation is still in the infant, either photos restoration or paintings retouching costs people arms and legs, especially for invaluable artistic work. In order to pursuit receivable inpainting result, numbers experts exhaust themselves to work hard for many years. Recently, with the development of science technology and deep investigation, Digital image inpainting technologies have made great progress and achieve satisfactory result. Motivated in part by work of ancient work of pioneers, in this paper, author proposed a novel inpainting method in view of the advantages and disadvantages of traditional ways.Both the research background of the ariticle and research present situation of the domestic and foreign research and application prospect, as well as the paper structure and innovation spots are all presented in the first chapter; The rudimentary knowledge and algorithm and principle of digital image are presented in the second chapter; Application of PDE are introduced in the third chapter; The Bandelets transform are presented in the forth chapter; Last not least, inpainting algorithm united PDE and Bandelets transform is presented in the fifth chapter.
