Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology is considered as one of the most promising high-techs in the 21th century. As the maturing of the technology and declining of the cost, it has a wide range of applications such as production, logistics, retail, transportation, medicine and other industries.Complex event processing (CEP) is a real-time technology for data analysis and event monitoring, which can extract the business concerned information for business decisions at the very first time. Using complex event processing technology to RFID middleware, not only can greatly improve the data processing ability of RFID middleware, but also reduce the amount of RFID data storage, this extraordinary significant for the large-scale RFID application. This paper is to study a common complex event processing technology, establish the complex event processing computing model and processing framework which can supply the high-level complex event detection services for enterprise applications.Complex event description language is an important part of the complex event processing technology, although the RFID technology has been extensive study, there are seldom researches on complex event description language at present. In this paper, I propose a XML-based complex event description language, which has the concepts of semantic space, instance space, detection mode, and consumption patterns that traditional complex event processing languages do not have, this can may it more expressive and extensible. Then I discuss the detail implements of complex event processing engine, including the engine architecture design and the data structure of complex events, using a new method to detect the complex event mode by combining the nondeterministic finite state machine (NFA) model and the matching tree model, and introduce some optimization strategies for event detecting. At last, this paper implement a service-oriented framework to integrate the complex event processing engine, which can provide a service for different complex event detection from different user.
