Speech coding codec is one of the most important elements for transmit voice data through internet. Because a high quality speech coding algorithm is not only the essence of the codec but also can save a lot of bandwidth, it improves the audio quality, and will bring huge economic benefits as well. G.729.1 is the one of the most important research objects and the work associated with it is presented in this thesis. To implement the using of G.729.1 on smart phone is a way to help this project to reach the real target:promote the mobile phone platform.Optimizing G.729.1 on ARM embedded platform to improve the efficiency and reduce the complexity of algorithm is the main work presented below. After that, developing a phone call software base on the linux can help to test the actual voice quality. The main contents of this work are organized as below:1. Clarifies the meaning of research work according to the status of speech codec development and its market demand.2. Introduces the optimizing strategy. Describes the main optimizing methods and how to do theoretical tests using test vector are introduced.4. In the end introduce the architectural of the phone call software, analysis the affection of the performance bottlenecks and the solution, using the subjective test method to validate whether G.729.1 can maintain clear and natural voice quality after optimizing.Through a series of theoretical tests and subjective tests, the optimized G.729.1 algorithm is finally up to the project requirements.
