With the development of network technology, the complexity of network management increases significantly. Multi-vendor devices, variety of access technologies, flexibility of network environment and topology, diversity of sevices (text, video, audio), etc, all these have increased complexity of network management. Autonomic network management is a new method which uses ontology, information data model, strategy, reasoning and learning, artificial intelligence algorithms to make network management intelligent. It aims to address the issue of complexity of network management. It uses closed control loop of monitor-analysis-plan-execute to auto configure, which provides a new and effective solution.The article focuses on the architecture of autonomic network management. According to the study of SNMP, CMIP, TMN, policy-based network management, the article sums up several traditional network management methods and their inadequate. The autonomic management architecture uses autonomic computing technology, which comes from human neural network.Firstly, based on the research of autonomic computing technology and FOCALE architecture, the article proposes an agent-based autonomic network management framework. Agent can monitor the state of element device, and complete tasks of up-layer delivered. What's more, it also can translate the vendor-specific data and command to vendor-neutral data. Component based technology makes the agents construction easier. It constructs different agents to different vendor-specific devices, and makes the devices intelligent. According to the usual problem or the unexpected one, it adopts different solutions (analyze by Analysis Component or Intelligence Component). This will enhance the implementation efficiency, since that the usual problems happen more frequently than the unexpected ones.Secondly, in order to verify the feasibility and effectiveness, the article uses JAVA RMI and JavaBean component technology to simply implement agent subsystem.Lastly, network management is transforming from element-oriented to service-oriented, client-oriented network management. The article uses "monitor-analysis-plan-execute" closed control loop in service layer, and proposes service-oriented autonomic network management framework. And take MMS for example to verify the framework.
