With the development of network applications, IP network's drawbacks are becoming obvious. Some researches on the new network architecture are carried out gradually. Autonomic network is an import direction of those stud-ies. Autonomic network is a new network architecture that has some autonomic entities to implement autonomic attributes like self-aware,self-managment,self-configuration and self-optimization,etc. As kinds of services are introduced into the network, service-aware can be an important aspect of self-aware. Au-tonomic network, with service-aware, can percept the characteristic and re-quirement of the services, so that to provide better quality of service. As a sub-project of'Context Aware based Autonomic Network Model and architecture research', this thesis researches the design and implementa-tion of autonomic QoS system in autonomic network. This thesis refers to the DiffServ module, and for the purpose of implementing autonomic attributes, design and implement a service-aware autonomic QoS system, which imple-ment autonomic attributes like self-aware,self-configuration,self-optimization, and can provide better QoS.In this thesis, the related background technologies are firstly described, including Linux traffic control framework, deep packet inspection, IP queue, IPv6 and its extension header, and then the architecture of the system is intro-duced, after that the system design and implementation details are introduced. Then it makes a brief introduction of the system testing, including the testbed, testing scenario and the testing result. At last the major work of this thesis is summarized and the system insuf-ficiencies and future improvements are pointed out.
