The trend within Wireless Mesh Networks (WMN) is towards the integration of many kinds of wireless access technologys. In the WMN, the available resources are limited, and there exits serious interferences among different communication links. Improving wireless resoureces'utilization and increasing the capacity of the system has been the key issue in a WMN designing. Resources allocation and management affect the network performance in a large extent. Therefore, the MAC technology of Wireless Mesh Network becomes one of the most effective solutions to increase the capacity of wireless networks.The dissertation is based on Broadband Wireless Network Project and Chinese National Programs for High Technology Research and Development (863 Programe), and it makes a lot of research on the MAC technology, especially on the resources management and allocation for Heterogeneous Mesh Networks, as follows:(1) The dissertation has concerned on basic concepts, current development status, research focus and research methods of the MAC technology and Mesh Networks. Also, the dissertation has focused on MAC technology and its applications in Wireless Mesh Networks, especially on the analysis of the classical MAC access mechanism, which is the foundation for the sequential research.(2) Based on the analysis of resource management model for Wireless Mesh Networks, the dissertation has proposed a kind of resource control network for resources management and allocation of Wireless Mesh Networks. Based on the resource control network, the dissertation has proposed a unified resource access strategy, which introduced efficient resource allocation algorithm, considering the spectrum resources'allocation on the physical layer by dividing the spectrum resources into the physical frame structure for each communication system. The strategy divides the spectrum resources for the different communication systems of Heterogeneous Mesh Networks, and improves wireless resoureces'utilization greatly among the different communication systems.(3) Based on Broadband Wireless Network Project, the dissertation has provided a simple, reliable, efficient MAC protocol, which solved the problems of the wireless resourse allocation for Wireless Mesh Systems. The dissertation has completed the MAC protocol design and software design, access process design for network equipments, etc. Meanwhile, the dissertation has accomplished the programme of MAC protocol and access process of WMN based on the VxWorks. It has realized whole function and passed the related tests of network searching, network application, delay adjustment, etc.The dissertation mainly foucsed on resource allocation strategies among different communication systems and resource allocation strategies in the single communication system for the Heterogeneous Mesh Networks. Through the unified resource access strategy and the design of MAC protocal, the dissertation has provided a effective solution to resources management and allocation of the wireless Mesh network.
