In recent years, more attention has been paid to application of information technology to sports in China, with the promotion of the information society and the knowledge-driven economy. The development of real-time motion data monitoring network has become the core of sports information. Firstly, it requires to get motion data in fast, real-time, low-cost way, and to extract data from a large number of players for scientific management decision-making, developing sports training and scientific management. Finally, we use a variety of intelligence equipment or manual control measures to improve technical and tactical Skills of the player. This paper focuses on the design and implement of athletic system based on wireless sensor networks.This article made the following work:1. Introduced domestic and foreign research in wireless sensor networks, network architecture, and applications in the sport. Analyzed the recent development of representative data gathering method.2. Proposed an adaptive data gathering protocol in mobile sensor networks. This protocol applies to moving target data gathering occasion. It's basic idea is to copy the information to the sensor node, which is more likely to communicate with base station, to achieve the maximization of data transfer success rate, reliability, and reduce the transmission energy consumption. It includes message transmission and queue management. The simulation and experiments show that, the adaptive data gathering protocol for the network lifetime is relatively long, and can lower energy consumption and transmission delay, receiving a higher data transfer success rate and reliability requirements.3. Proposed a plan of designing athletic system based on wireless sensor networks.Through the existing hardware platform for wireless sensor networks and key chip research and analysis, we select high-performance, low power consumption, CC2420 chip as a radio frequency chip, ATmega128, S3C2410 chip as a core microprocessor, MMA7260 accelerometer as the sensor module. We design wireless sensor network nodes and base station, and design relevant software, including the node, the base station working software and athletic database management system software...
