During the process to exploring the ocean, the digital underwater acoustic communications (UAC) have developed rapidly. It will be of great practical significance and needs to design and develop a hardware platform which involves information source encode,modulation,channel simulation,demodulation,equalization,synchronization and information destination decode.In order to satisfy the efficient and reliable requirement, this paper designs and implements a digital UAC hardware system based on TMS320C2812 of TI Corporation. The UAC system has characteristics of the digital communications and the underwater channel. The paper constructs the whole hardware architecture of the UAC system, the paper also analyze and debugs some essential function module performances.This paper utilizes newest idea in DSP design and development: Joint the algorithm, design and simulation under the uniform environment and connect SIMULINK,CCS and target DSP chip by using CCSLINK tool.The details of the paper are as the following: (1)The project file which created by TI DSP object code base on the simulation of FIR digital filter is compiled, loaded, run and debug under the CCS environment, demonstrates to illustrate the effectiveness of"SIMULINK-CCSLINK-TI DSP"hardware development approach.(2) The project completes the simulation of the digital communication system includes with QPSK modulation and demodulation,underwater acoustic channel simulation,RLS equalization and LFM synchronization by SIUMLINK tool, then, built the entire communications system model in the foundation which above tasked.(3) The simulation model of the digital underwater acoustic communications generates executable object code of TMS320C2812 chip by CCSLINK tool. (4)The object code pass translation and execution of CCS3.3 platform, gets the desired result, completes the hardware development of the digital underwater acoustic communication system.The work in this paper implements the TI DSP hardware of the digital UAC system by utilizing the new techniques of"SIMULINK-CCSLINK-TI DSP", the work also lay the base what create the production of the digital UAC system. The hardware development approach in this paper is more simple in development cycles and process than traditional DSP hardware development way.
