Design And Implementation Of Network Based Computer Assisted Instruction System For Liaoning Forestry Vocational Technical College

With the rapid development of the Internet, education is entering the age of network. Computer assisted instruction (CAI) is a new education form, becomes a main way of the lifelong study system in the knowledge economic age. It has some unexampled advantages than that of the traditional teaching method. It creates a new teaching method, breaks the limitation of space and time in the traditional method. It adopts the advanced teaching methods and ways, is drawing increasing attention. The development of the NBCAI can not only take full advantage of the network resource in universities, but also better serve the teaching cause and accelerate the college education reform.This system applies the three-layer architecture of B/S based on ASP. The ASP language which is object-oriented and easy to extend and the Microsoft SQL Server 2000 are chosen as the development tool. And web model is used to integrate text, graphic, sound and video, which are necessary to the curriculum. All required functions of the NBCAI system are implemented, including network classroom, answering question online, homework management and testing online. Teachers can use this system to make teaching courseware, arrange and correct homework, answer question online, and add new examination questions, etc. Meanwhile, student can use the system to view course content, submit homework, do testing online, and raise questions, etc.The thesis firstly introduced present conditions of the domestic and foreign CAI, the characteristics of NBCAI, the development background, and implementation significance of the system. Then its development platform and related technology are introduced. The system's requirements which based on the objective requirements of Liaoning Forestry Vocational Technical College's Network Based Computer Assisted Instruction System are also analyzed from all aspects of the system. Beginning with system requirement analysis, the overall design objective of the system is proposed in the design part. Moreover, it describes in great detail of the design of system function and database. In the part of system implementation, the thought and method of main function modules are described in detail. Finally, the results of testing system, conclusion and the plan of improving system are given.
