As the emerging visual media on Internet, since its birth till now ten years time, Flash animation has become the most prevalent multimedia presentation format widely applied in education and teaching. Flash animation is a vector-based interactive movie format containing heterogeneous media ingredients, dynamic effects, and user interactions. It expresses the rich semantics information through the internal objects and their attributes. Flash animation is the media format delivering effectively vector graphics, texts, images, sounds and videos on the Web. It plays an increasingly important role in the interaction between teachers and the digital environment also the media. It is essential to carry out new researches for multimedia research field as to how to retrieve the desirable Flash animation efficiently and effectively from massive network resources and to make full use of their entertainment and teaching functions. Text-based Flash retrieval is of low accuracy. Flash retrieval based on animation external characteristics and webpage context is neither efficient nor accurate. Accordingly, starting from the internal scene structural features and visual features of Flash animation, the paper studies Content-based Flash animation retrieval, extracts scene features and visual features of Flash animation, which is part of Flash animation content management and retrieval engine research and development.The research focuses on the published file format SWF of Flash animation. According to the SWF file structure and Flash production process, the paper has carried out in-depth study on scene structure and the visual feature of Flash animation, completed logic-scene segmentation and visual-scene segmentation, and finished the feature-extraction of shapes, images and videos which express the visual feature of Flash animation. Finally, the paper introduces particularly the Flash animation content-feature analysis and abstraction platform, also the Content-based Flash animation retrieval system.Firstly, it carries out statistical analysis on Flash animation on the network, establishes Flash classification based on the content characteristics of the animation; then makes content analysis and feature extraction for each type of Flash animation. The storage structure and operating principle of SWF animation is introduced according to SWF File Format Specification Version 10. The Flash animation tag information extraction platform is constructed. Meanwhile, the paper makes an analysis on Flash animation scene structure features and visual features, and creates Flash content organization structure chart.According to the Flash content organization structure, the paper presents the concepts of logic scene and visual scene, completes logic-scene segmentation and visual-scene segmentation successfully. Based on the node definition of logic scene, we do the logic-scene segmentation and save the node images. Flash animation visual scene classification system is established by integrating video scene classification principles and the Flash visual-scene features. This classification system provides theoretical basis for visual scene segmentation. In order to browse Flash animation quickly just as images browsing through thumbnails, the paper presents the concept of scene-based Flash animation summarization, and gets Flash summarization as GIF animation format.Flash animation is a multimedia format containing texts, shapes, images, sounds, videos, etc. The movement, rotation, scale and morph of heterogeneous media ingredients form the complicated dynamic effects of Flash animation. Therefore, the features and dynamic effects of shapes, images and videos are the concentrated expression of Flash animation rich visual effects. According to SWF File Format Specification Version 10, shapes, images and videos are all stored independently in the SWF file. All the objects'tag information is extracted by the Flash animation tag information extraction platform. Then we extract respectively the features and attributes of shapes, images and videos user interested in, and set up Flash animation visual features extraction platform. Eventually, Flash animation visual features are input into feature-indexed databases for content-based Flash animation retrieval system as to complete Flash animation retrieval focusing on visual features.The research topic is Flash animation scene structure and visual features. It builds Flash animation content characteristics analysis and abstraction platform which serves content-based Flash retrieval system. Scene structure analysis and visual features extraction of Flash animation is chief component of Flash animation content characteristics analysis and extraction platform, and the development tool is VC++ 6.0 with the Windows XP runtime environment. The research work brings newly development for Flash animation content management and retrieval engine, and has considerable innovation and practical application value.
