Digital TV is a product of interdiscipline of TV, telecommunication and computer science. And digital TV chip design is the key technology in digital TV industry chain. As the development of chip manufacturing and user's demand, DTV chip has a great incensement in chip scale and becomes more and more integrated. Single-chip and Integration on chip is today's trend. It has become research highlight that how to design architecture to satisfy user's increasing demand for TV's function.This paper designs a digital TV SoC architecture to meet the requirement for high-performance DTV chip. Its main work includes:1) System architecture design:it adopts the ASMP architecture according to DTV's feature. It divides the system function into two parts: logical-intensive and arithmetic-intensive, and dispatch the two parts into unique CPU. And different software system is used in each CPU.2) Analysis of multi-processor communication mechanism:it introduces two communication mechanism used in system:Mailbox mechanism used for inter-processor command communication and Shared Memory mechanism used for mass-data communication. It also analyses the Ring Buffer structure which is used to manage shared memory. Finally, it compares the performance of the two mechanisms.3) Process optimization and exception handling:It proposes a system process optimization based on bridge pattern according to DTV system's working manner. And it discusses how to improve stability of multi-processor system by using hardware watch-dog and software reset.The architecture has been adopted in an on-sale TV chip.
