More views mean more data. Comparing with traditional single view videos, Multi-View videos would occupy ever more storage space and transmission bandwidth, which would bring great difficulties to the storage and transmission process. Thus, an efficient Multi-View encoding scheme and a corresponding transmission scheme are the two key technologies to the mass application of Multi-View videos. This essay introduced a modified Multi-View encoding scheme, which achieved view scalable by adjusting the frame reference structure of MPEG-2 MVP. Based on this encoding scheme, the author focused on key technologies of Multi-View videos distribution system, including terminal adaptive transmission, Multi-View rate shaping, Multi-View synchronize strategy, etc.Besides, to be compatible to various 3D and former 2D display terminals is also an inevitable step on the way to the application of Multi-View video system. The author proposed to achieve terminal adaptive transmission by introducing a view scalable transmission scheme. In this scheme, the author proposed to use the flow label of IPV6 protocol as a view info label to separate views on network protocol level three. A router device on the access network would on the one hand accept all Multi-View video streams from the server, and on the other hand accept terminals'request then distribute corresponding steams to each terminal. The author also developed a more simple distribution structure where streams from different views are transported with separate multicast group, and then comparison on these two approaches would be given. In the Multi-View encoding scheme, data steams from different views are encoded in a circle order, which would cause a similar periodic jitter on the transmission rate of each view stream, which would seriously affect transmission quality. The author managed to restrict this jitter from more than a hundred percent to less then ten percent by applying separate rate shaping policy on each view.Network switching environment can be rather complicated and transmission delay is inevitable, thus it would be difficult for terminals to get streams from different views in the same order as they were separately distributed at the server, especially when processed with proposed Multi-View rate shaping policy. The author adopted double buffering queue policy at the terminal to synchronize streams from different views. In the end, the author applied the entire proposed scheme to develop a view scalable Multi-View videos distribution system. Testing results have proved the efficiency and reliability of the proposed system.
