3D face modeling has always been a popular research topic of three-dimensional modeling, it becomes more and more important in the in the virtual implementation. For both the 3D game and movie special effect, the demands of the faces of the characters are very high in virtual implementation. The faces are different to each other for their difference of the facial features between different persons. How to represent these differences of facial feature in the model? How to obtain a higher degree of realistic three-dimensional face models? These are ambitions of 3D face modeling.This article designed and implemented a system of 3D face modeling based on CANDIDE-3 and the orthogonal photos, FM3OP (3D Face Modeling based on Mesh Model and Orthogonal Photos). Use a neutral face mesh model and orthogonal photos, combining with recognition technology of facial feature points, extracting feature points from photographs, obtained a set of three-dimensional feature points'data with orthogonal positioning algorithm. Then correct neutral model with the group of feature points which match the photos from both sides of the character, getting a particular facial wire-frame model. at last extracting the photo realistic facial texture to map on the specific three-dimensional model.It is proved by the experiments that FM3OP is not only modeling quickly but also using less sources, FM3OP can get the accurate person's face model with good effect. What is more? In the area which used to modeling like the game model, like the virtual implement, FM3OP can be used, and when there have to be modeling for many face models, FM3OP can create a set of different 3D face models in a short time.
