RIP protocol is routing protocol which is based on distance vector. It is suitable for small networks because of its simple and consuming a little system resources. RIPng is a routing protocol based on IPv6. RIPng is needed interoperability testing in order to ensure the correct connection and interoperability. The implementation of controlling and observation in one of the IUTs of interoperability testing system will be useful for the research of the interoperability testing. This thesis takes a research on the controlling and the observation of interoperability testing with a routing software called Zebra.Firstly, the situation of the controllbility and the observability problem in testing is introduced. The definition of the controlling and the observation in protocol interoperability testing is present and the architecture of interoperability testing with the PCO points in the situation of unilateral protocol interoperability testing is analyzed.Secondly, the finite state machine (FSM) of RIPng according to the RFC document is presented. The reachability graph is adopted to describe the interoperability model of the two FSMs. The reachability graph is reducted according to the real execution. A test sequence generation method based on the reducted reachability graph is given. The setting of the PCO points is implemented in RIPng.Furthermore the architecture and the functions of Zebra are described. The reasons that using Zebra are explained. The working process of Zebra is introduced by an example. Zebra code is extended to support required RIPng controlling and observation and a RIPng packets sender is implemented. The RIPng interoperability testing is taken with the extended Zebra and the sender tool.Finally, this thesis presents the work in the future. The more general formal method on the controlling and the observation of the interoperability testing is worth of more deep research. The controlling and the observation of RIPng interoperability testing need a more detail study.
