The use of the hundreds-meter-rail in high-speed railway has brought the transportation problem that how to switch the rail between different processes in the rail's welding line. The Shahe welding factory of Beijing bureau hasimported a new type of equipment that named translation equipment of hundreds-meter-rail, intending to solve the transportation problem of switching the rail between different processes. The control system of the equipment was studied in this thesis. The program and configuration softs that match the controller were utilized to design and test the control system of the equipment's execution and communication. The translation experiment was carried in the practical production so as to put the equipment into service.The solution of the control system was analyzed and discussed in this thesis before designing the control system. The analysis and discussion is about the selection of controller, the matching of the execution system and the controller, the structure of the control net, the communication technology and the different connection ways of different net structures corresponding different controllers in different periods of the study. The 3DS-MAX was used to build the 3d model of the translation unit and make the motion simulation animation before the design of the execution control system of the translation equipment. Through the motion simulation of the translation, the program flow of the unit, the trigger condition of the fault and the auo-protection were determined. The unit's motion control program was compiled based on the simulation and the measurement of the motion parameters at the work site.While designing the communication control system, a small net was built with some controller to do basic communication experiment. On the basis of the basic communication experiment, the process's plan and design of the whole system's communication program was done, the programs and analysis for different ways of communication process was also done.The debug and experiment of the translation unit's motion was carried after the control program was done, as well as the experiment of the system's communication. Then these experiments were carried in different groups of multi-units at the work site. Through these debug and experiment, the function of the control system and the coordination of the execution system and the control system were improved, so the equipment was capable in service.A realization of industrial automation was achieved by designing the control system of the rail's translation in the study. The research provided very valuable reference and experiment experience to the further study for new type of hoisting and conveying machinery.
