It can analysis large-scale data and extract useful information and models that hiding in the data, to provide the decision makers valuable knowledge and bring immeasurable benefits, has become a hostport of international research and application.China's urban water supply enterprises started to focus on the information management systems since early 90s.The level of information construction had a rapid progress through the continuous development. Especially in recent years, water supply companies invested heavily in building information systems, and accumulated a lot of business data. However, it is difficult to extract valuable information for decision making. Therefore, how to pick up useful information from these accumulated data, has become the focus of the various water supply enterprises to consider.The application of data mining in water supply industry can provide the company leaders scientific basis for decision support and management, make full use of the information resources. So that the company can make a better plan for the production development and other sectors, make the company go in a better and more rational decision.Based on the development requirements of water management systems and combined with the actual situation of water supply companys, this paper did related analysis with the data of repaired meter in the information database, extracted the distribution in the relevant properties of the distress meter, provide the decision makers a lot of useful information. The paper also did a clustering analysis with the examination meter data in the database, gave out the judging basis for pipeline failures and possible phenomenon of stealing water.First, the paper introduces the basic principles and development status of data mining technology, discussed the practical significance of the application that data mining technology used in the water supply industry.Subsequently, according to the decision-making needs of water supply companies, combined with examples of water supply system, the paper gave out the structure and the implementation process of the data mining system. Analysis the result of the data mining system with the actual situation of the information management system, it can provide users with decision support basis.Finally, according to the actual situation, the paper discussed the usefulness of the data mining system, combined with the experience of the system design process, sum up the experience and shortcomings of the development process.
