Unreasonableness of casting process parameter is the main reason for casting defects. The filling and solidification process of liquid metal is closely related to process parameter. With the development of computational fluid dynamics and heat transfer theory, Casting Numerical Simulation is able to simulate this complex process precisely by computer, and describe the temperature change and speed change of casting which are taking place in the process. It can predict defects, and then worker can improve the process parameters. This paper does research of database technology and post-processing visualization technology of Casting Numerical Simulation System. Database module provides thermal properties of material parameter data for computing module; it is the basis of numerical analysis and calculation. Post-processing module makes calculation result displayed in the form of a graphic image by visualization technology. It provides an accurate basis for worker to improve the process parameters. Therefore, databases module and post-processing occupy an important position in the cast numerical simulation.During casting process, there are a number of factors that impact flowing liquid metal and heat transfer, but fundamentally, they are inseparable from metal thermal parameters. Thermal properties of different materials are quite different from each other, and this data are massive and messy. Therefore, it is particularly important to develop a database system to manage thermal parameters. This article has developed a thermal parameter database system for casting CAE based on ADO database access technology. This system enables to manage thermal parameters such as storage, location, retrieval, modification and maintenance, make the management of casting material more efficient. Described the closely relationship between thermal parameters and temperature by curve. Finally as a sub-function module of casting simulation system, database system is responsible for numerical calculation and post-processing by providing thermal parameters data.Casting numerical simulation results are visualized by using Visualization in Scientific Computing technology, which display velocity and temperature results into an intuitive graphics to the user. Firstly, classify results into scalar data, vector data two types, then use appropriate storage format to save them. The process liquid metal filling in cavity and temperature change during solidification is reflected by'color temperature map'. Algorithm of grid interpolation is studied, it makes the transition between different vertexes smoothly, and the change of color temperature map in different cells is subdued, beautiful and close to the real situation. In the end, studied displaying methods of data distribution rule inside castings, the color picture of internal structure value is reflected by drawing an arbitrary cross-section colorful cloud.
