With the development of video applications, high-definition video is also gaining popularity. Since the complexity of H.264 high-definition video encoder is very intense, it needs the high-performance support such as multi-core DSP. In this thesis H.264 high-definition video software is designed based on MSC8144 DSP.Chapter 1 describes video compression standards and DSP processors, and then describes the content of this research thesis.Chapter 2 presents the H.264 standards in detail, including H.264 bitstream structure, the encoder architecture and key modules.Chapter 3 discusses the structure of MSC8144 DSP, such as multi-core architecture, subsystem architecture, DSP core architecture, memory system, and the development environment.Chapter 4 presents the design of the software solution and modules for MSC8144 DSP, including system initiation module, data reception module, video encoding module, bitstream transforming module and communication module.Chapter 5 analyses various multi-core parallel encoding algorithms and researches the parallel field encoding and neighboring macroblocks encoding. Then the two algorithms are integrated to become a parallel multi-grain encoding algorithm. Field and slice level parallel encoding are integrated to gain higher efficiency.Chapter 6 optimizes the high-definition video encoder, including instruction and data optimization.Chapter 7 summarizes the design of the high-definition video encoding software and the prospect for future development.
